Reflexology can help to increase your chance of conceiving naturally and can also work hand in hand with fertility programmes. Did you know about a quarter of all couples trying to conceive has problems and 1 in 4 women will sadly miscarry. You are not alone.

Reflexology will help to balance your endocrine system (hormones), can assist ovulation and help you to achieve the correct ‘body ecology’ to fall pregnant and maintain a healthy pregnancy.

Conception is very complex, a woman’s hormones must be correct for the egg to develop normally and she must be ovulating so that the egg is released. There are only 2-3 days a month when a woman is fertile, the man must healthy strong sperm to reach the egg and fertilise it too. The embryo then has to implant securely in the lining of the womb which needs the right levels of progesterone to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

For many couples trying to conceive this can be a very emotional and at times distressing experience. Reflexology, in many cases, is able to aid conception and help to balance your emotions.

I will work with you holistically to understand your needs and emotions throughout the process. From personal experience I know this can be a delicate time for both you and your partner.

There are many, many different reasons you may find it difficult to fall pregnant and many reasons a pregnancy may fail. I will offer holistic advice to you throughout your course of treatments.

An increasing number of women believe that reflexology has helped them conceive and some Gynaecologists are now suggesting it before fertility drugs and some in conjunction with fertility treatment.

Pregnancy

Reflexology is able to facilitate a state of harmony and wellbeing during your pregnancy. Regular treatments may balance your hormones and boost your energy levels during this special time allowing your body to be as healthy and comfortable as possible.

Many changes occur in your body during pregnancy and reflexology may help to relieve any pregnancy related problems you are experiencing.

Pregnancy ailments which may be aided by reflexology include:

Reflexology may reduce your labour time

Research has shown that women who received regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy are more likely to have a shorter labour. They also require less pain relief and give birth closer to their estimated due date.

In these findings the average first stage of labour was 5 hours compared to normal figures of 16 to 24 hours and 16 minute for the 2nd stage, in comparion to 1 to 2 hours normally.

Reflexology for priming labour

Reflexology may help to bring on labour in a post term pregnancy (if you have passed your due date) Many women, including myself have had this reflexology treatment and have responded well. Specific reflex points are stimulated with the intention of creating a boost of energy to encourage the onset of labour contractions.

Post Natal

Post Natal Reflexology:

Postnatal reflexology may help to balance your hormones and energy levels helping you to make a speedy recovery from the pregnancy and birth. It may also calm and ease your anxiety, enabling you to cope with new pressures in your life such as feeding your baby, tiredness from sleepless nights and caring for the newborn. Thus allowing you to enjoy this special time with your baby.

Importantly studies have shown regular reflexology after birth may help to reduce the effects of post natal depression.
